Axle Housing Shave Service

Heavy Metal Off-Road offers professional axle housing shave machining for customers who want accurate, properly executed results. This is a local drop-off service. You provide the axle housing and the shave kit, and we handle the machining process from start to finish before returning the housing fully machined and ready for the next stage of your build.

An axle shave is designed to increase ground clearance, typically by about 1.5 to 2 inches depending on the housing and shave kit being used. In real-world terms, that can deliver clearance comparable to running 43-inch tires while still using 40s. The value of this service is in precise machining at the proper angle and depth so the shave kit components fit the way they are intended to.

We most commonly work with Ballistic Fabrication shave kits, including setups that use both a shave plate and differential cover. We can typically machine Ford axles, Dana axles, and other axle housings when a compatible shave kit is available.

This service includes machining only. It does not include cleaning, prep work, welding, heat treatment, or final fabrication. Any additional work required after machining is the customer’s responsibility.
